How to get there from Barcelona Urbany?
Take the Metro, you have the station at a 5 minutes walking distance from our Barcelona Youth Hostel.
Take the metro line L1-FONDO / HOSPITAL DE BELLVITGE at the Clot Station and get off after 9 stops at Pça. ESPANYA Station. It will take you 12 minutes to get there.
Our Barcelona Youth Hostel also recommends you Loft is in the Air, a peculiar and perticular exhibition that will remain open in Barcelona until Sept. 30th.
This is an exhibition of the works of several renowned artists and new promises of art in Barcelona, which encompasses various disciplines of art: graffiti, sculpture, painting, design, video, picture ... All artists will present their latest works and some of the works that have become a benchmark in their respective fields. An exhibition located in a different and exceptional environment.

How to arrive from our Barcelona Youth Hostel?
Take the Metro L1 Fondo / Hospital de Bellvitge in the Clot Statio, 200 meters from our Barcelona Youth Hostel. Get off at Marina Station (two stops). Take the bus line 6 at the stop Pont de Marina-Almogàvers and get off after 4 stops at Ciutat de Granada-Ptge Mas de Roda.

Are you staying tonight at our Youth Hostel in Barcelona? From here we recommend you a great event that is going to be held tonight in the city ... And it's free! Perfect for Barcelona Backpackers.
Tonight we'll have the chance of enjoying the opening ceremony of the European Athletics Championship Barcelona 2010. It's going to be an exceptional event for 90 minutes led by one of the founders of La Fura dels Baus, whose shows we've always admired in our Youth Hostel in Barcelona. The ceremony promises to be a great event, a special performance, attractive and innovative with water as the central axis, accompanied by music specially composed for the occasion, dance and acrobatics. There will also be held a big parade with all the athletes.
The event takes place on the Avenida Maria Cristina, next to Pça. Espanya, the Magic Fountain of Montjuic central axis. It stats at 10:00 pm. The ceremony can be followed by four giant screens installed along Avenida María Cristina, and when finished, will host a concert by the group La Troba Kung-Fu, in the Plaza de l'Univers ... And best of all, it is completely free, great for Barcelona Backpackers tonight staying at our youth hostel in Barcelona!

At our Hostel in Barcelona we know that for Barcelona Backpackers who come to the city in summer it's always interesting to find activities at dusk, when they can enjoy the fresh night air. If you stay for these days at our Hostel in Barcelona, now that it seems that the sun will melt the streets, you might want to find some cooler Barcelona activities overnight. At sunset, the temperature gets cooler, but Barcelona still has many offers. Our Hostel in Barcelona will propose you something else than the traditional "chiringuitos" on the beach or the ineffable summer terraces.
We suggest you to visit the Poble Espanyol in the evening. The Poble Espanyol is a separate space in the city, conceived as a little village inside Barcelona, it's a microcosm of streets and squares where each building is a symbol of different architectural styles of the towns and cities of Spain. At our Hostel in Barcelona we think that it's well worth visiting the Poble Espanyol by day due to its originality but also during the summer nights for it has become an important center of activities and concerts.
Among the events that take place there, our Hostel in Barcelona recommends to all Barcelona Backpackers the Mecal Air, an exclusive and original proposal whose sessions are held at the open air every Friday untill september at the Plaça del Baluard in the Poble Espanyol.
And what is it? The Mecal Air is an innovative audiovisual project, whose sessions include the screening of short films and music in a special environment for the occasion, a stylish chill out in a unique framework, an outdoor terrace where you stay cool and enjoy wonderful views of the city of Barcelona. The festival features every Friday a selection of short films and music where each session focuses on a specific subject: hard core animation, burlesque, fire ... Different proposals for Barcelona Backpackers!
Each session of the Mecal Air also offers a bar and barbecue service. You can go there and have dinner at the open air while enjoying a fresh, innovative and elegant proposal at sunset.

Take the metro, you have the Clot-Aragó station at a five minutes walking distance from our Hostel in Barcelona
Take the line L1-FONDO/ HOSPITAL BELLVITGE and get off after 9 stops at Pça ESPANYA. It will take you 12 minutes to arrive.
From there, take the bus line number 193 at Av Reina Maria Cristina, and get off after two stops at Av Dalia - Ferrer i Guardia.

Our Hostel in Barcelona is pleased to announce that jury for the 1st Graffiti Contest organized by Barcelona Urbany and Montana Colors has already declarated who are the winners. After several meetings of the jury members and with some delay in obtaining a unanimous verdict,due to the large number of candidates and the extraordinary quality of their work ... we finally know who will decorate our Hostel in Barcelona empty walls!
It has not been easy, and after assessing all the applications submitted under the criteria of creativity, technique, originality, versatility and quality, the jury has decided that the Graffiti Contest winners are:
Awarded for the Reception Area of our Hostel in Barcelona
SD Arte Mural, a team made up by Augustin and Christian, two art and design former students with more than 10 years of experience in the art of graffiti. Awarded for the Luggage Room of our Hostel in Barcelona

Awarded for the Guests Kitchen of our Hostel in Barcelona
Zosen. Born in Argentina but living in Barcelona for more than 20 years, his artistic interests extend far beyond the graffiti art. His work will be on the walls of the kitchen, and he'll also get one of the 250 € prizes. His website: animalbandido.com
Awarded for the Common Room of our Hostel in Barcelona
Eduardo Luque-Lalone-. Born in Málaga, this artist who will be responsible for decorating one of the walls of our common room on the 3rd floor. He will also receive a prize of 250 €
We must say that we've received many excellent artists candidatures. So, even the four artists above listed have been the contest winners, we want to thank all of those who have sent their applications requesting to participate in our contest and we'd like to congratulate them for the quality of their work.
The four winners will begin to decorate the areas of our Hostel in Barcelona during the week starting on September 6th and the Final Festival Awards party will be held on September the 17th or the 18th.
It is going to be a great party at Barcelona Urbany for Final Festival Awards: Free snacks & drinks and a D.J. for the contest closing day at our Hostel in Barcelona. If you decide to join us, you will see the brand new works by the Barcelona Urbany Graffiti Contest winners, and you'll also have good time with music by a DJ, drinks and snacks.

Yesterday, from our Barcelona Hostel's common room, we lived a tough match between Spain and the Netherlands in the final of the Football World Cup. 90 minutes of play, scoring chances, goalies miraculous interventions, too many kicks, not much football ... and extra time! Finally, after 116 minutes of play, a great goal by Iniesta made the Spanish team the 2010 World Champion, for the first time in spanish history!
With a great team made of faith and good quality game, the Spanish team was able to confront the Netherlands, a team that played a very hard game yesterday. In the common room of our Barcelona Hostel we lived an exciting game, a great 2010 World Cup final game. At our Barcelona Hostel we think that the Spanish team's victory may well be the definitive reason that will make you come: work, quality, modern game, new trends, elegance ... all that was the Spanish team against its contender ... all that is our Barcelona Hostel.
But not everything ends up with the Spanish football team: Rafa Nadal has already won the Roland Garros and Wimbledon Tournaments this year, will he win the U.S. Open? At our Barcelona Hostel we don't miss out none of the matches he plays, come in late August and share it with us. At our Barcelona Hostel we also watched Pau Gasol winning his second NBA Ring with the LA Lakers ... We hope he can win the third one next year! And also our Barcelona Hostel common room is always crowded to watch the Moto GP races ... is Jorge Lorenzo going to be next world champion? We hope so!
And of course the event held yesterday, the Spanish Football Team winning the FIFA World Cup ... Spain is in fashion, our sport is at the top ... and our Barcelona Hostel too! We are waiting for you, come to Barcelona, and smell the champions energy in the air!
And when you come to our Barcelona Hostel, remember that not only you'll be able to watch all sports events from the big screen with cable TV at our common room, but you can also exercise in our fitness center or swim in our pool for free! Yes, you will have free access to our Barcelona Hostel's gym and pool with the electronic key card you'll be given when you check in while staying at Barcelona Urbany.

Our Hostel in Barcelona has other suggestions for this weekend in Barcelona ... And the following is free!
The Montjuic de Nit Festival: concerts, events and all the Montjuic Museums opened untill 02:00 AM with free entrance from 08:00 PM.
Thirteen stages have been installed at the Montjuic Mountain, where the concerts will be held at the open air. Each concert has been organized by some of the most important festivals held along the year in Barcelona, like The Sónar or The Primavera Sound Festival. There are also other activities scheduled: exhibitions, films & documentaries. Flamenco, hip-hop, pop, electronic music ... a wide offer for a special night filled with music.
But that's not all. Within the frame of the Festival, all the Montjuic Museums will be open during the night untill 2:00 AM, you will have free access to all activities and a make a night visit to the Joan Miró Foundation, the MNAC, the Olympic Museum or the Poble Espanyol.
There will also be a shuttle-bus service available between Pça Espanya to the Castle of Montjuic, it will allow you to attend all the events.

How to get to Pça Espanya from our Hostel in Barcelona?
The easiest and fastest way: Take the Metro, you have the station at 5 minutes walking from the door of our Hostel in Barcelona.
You'll be at Pça Espanya in about 20 minutes: Take the line L1-FONDO / Hospital de Bellvitge at the CLOT station. Get off at ESPANYA Station (9 stops).
But there are also other things to do if you're staying at our Hostel in Barcelona this weekend ... What about having a drink inside a big truck at 10 degrees below zero? This is what famous brand of beer suggests us for this weekend in Barcelona. Go to the Barceloneta Beach, you'll find there until next Sunday the "Extracold Truck" . What can you do there? Visit the inside of the truck and have a drink at the bar settled there ... at ten degrees below zero!
How to reach the Barceloneta Beach from our Hostel in Barcelona? You'll be there in 25 minutes!
Take the train renfe line C1 at the Clot Aragó Station (at a 5 minutes walking distance form our Hostel in Barcelona), and get off at Arc de Triomf, after 1 stop. From there, take the bus line number 39 an get off after 7 stops at Joan de Borbó-Almirall Aixada.
