This festival is quite simply crazy. Each year, on the last Wednesday of August, thounsands of partygoers plunge themselves in a tradition that has lasted for 64 years. They came from all parts of the world, just to feel and live through one of the best festivities!

You can not miss it, that´s  why Barcelona Urbany hostel organizes a day trip to the tomatina´s town.

All the people packed the narrow laneways of Bunyol´s town, just chucking tons and tons of ripe tomatoes at each other! "What's the point?" you may wonder... Who cares! Suspend reason and good sense and just throw yourself into the orgiastic, tomato melee! Get involved!

By tradition, women wear all white and men attend shirtless. Eye goggles are well recommended as there's a good chance that you could get blinded! Even more brilliantly and bizarrely, the food fight doesn't start until someone manages to retrieve a ham from the top of a greased pole (seriously!)! Once this has been done, the trucks full of tomatoes roll in and, once the water cannons have been turned on, it's everyone for themselves!

You'll be exhausted after having to switch hands to throw constantly at whoever looks like an appealing target for a ripe tomato in the face!

The Bacchanalian, intensely insane and totally exhilarating fighting! Covered in a slimy film of tomato juice and pulp! Be careful not to slip over on the slippery tomato remains all over the streets! What are you waiting for?
