The 29th Barcelona International Comic Fair, perhaps the most important event in terms of comics in Spain. The Comic Fair will take place at the Hall number 8 of Fira de Barcelona. Access will be available at avenue Maria Cristina. The enclosure of the contest will count on about 19.000 square meters.
The Barcelona International Comic Fair once again features an incredible special guest list, with superstar talent from the worlds of comics and fantasy/horror novels.
The list of confirmed authors attending keeps on growing. From the English language market we have the writers Kurt Busiek, artist of the Arrowsmith, The Avengers, Iron Man. Garth Ennis, the cartoonists Eddie Campbell and Charlie Adlard, plus Brian Azzarello and Dave Johnson, the scriptwriter and cover-page designer of one of the happiest surprises of recent years.
From Italy, a group of writers from Escola Bonelli, the leading comic publishers in our neighbouring country, are coming, along with veteran cartoonists Alfredo Castelli, he has written histories of Dylan Dog, Zagor or Mister No, and others guests: Giancarlo Alessandrini and Angelo Stano.
At the eleventh hour, a great connoisseur of our city, Annie Goetzinger ("Felina", "Barcelonight"), will be joining the ranks of French cartoonists like Arthur de Pins , Camille Jourdy and Edmond Baudoin , as well as the German Reinhard Kleist, who is presenting "Castro", a biography of the Cuban leader.
And also Spanish Comic-Book professionals (creators, publishers, distributors, sellers, critics and specialized journalists.
The comic fair will open at 10:00 a.m. each morning. On Thursday and Sunday, the fair closes at 20:00 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, the fair closes at 21:00 p.m.
Tickets for the Comic Fair cost from 2 € to 6 € per day. This ticket is valid for one person and for one day. Ticket prices remain the same for throughout the duration of the fair. Every ticket holder will receive a free comic on presenting their ticket at the FICOMIC stand.

Today January 28th, Barcelona will host one of 5 run outs of the Monte-Carlo Historic Rally. In this rally there will participate cars that were manufactured between 1950 and 1980 and that run in some Monte Carlo Rally's ancient edition. The 114 cars running out from Barcelona will be exhibited at the Pça de la Catedral from 10 am, and the run out wil start at 4.20 pm.

What to do in the city this weekend if you stay at our Hostel in Barcelona?
Tomorrow you can visit the Sagrada Familia for free, on occasion of the open days held there every Saturday on January. This Saturday, the basilic will be open from 9 AM until 6 PM. And you can reach the Sagrada Familia taking a 15 minutes walk from our Hostel in Barcelona.
Many of those who visit our Hostel in Barcelona like to enjoy some typical traditions. We recommend you to go to the Barrio de Sant Antoni, which celebrates its year big party. Tomorrow at 10.30 am you can enjoy the spectacle of the Cabalgata de Els Tres Tombs, a big parade with the animals as main characters. It is a 50 charriots and 76 riders parade across the main streets of the Ciutat Vella and Sant Antoni quarters. It’s a tradition that animals receive a blessing that day. As part of the festival there are more activities scheduled: theater, concerts, competitions and even a karaoke! If you like traditional festivals, you wouldn’t miss it out. The entrance to Sagrada Familia, one the most Barcelona's emblematic modernist buildings is free every Saturday during the month of January (from 9 am to 2 pm). So, enjoy these Saturday open houses and visit the magnificent temple, now a basilic, without having to pay 13€, the price of the entry ticket .
And how to get to the Sagrada Familia from our Hostel in Barcelona? Walking, of course! It will take you approximately 15 minutes to reach it, so enjoy the good weather and take a walk around the city! Big Air 2011, the snow comes to Barcelona!
If you like winter sports, the city will live today the opening of the Snowboard World Championships. Although they’re held in the ski resort of La Molina, the opening ceremony will take place today at 5 pm at the Palau Sant Jordi.
It promises to be an amazing show, as it will include great exhibitions and the Big Air, a big jump on a 30 meters ramp specially built inside the Palau for the occasion. The athletes will perform special tricks in the air. You’ll find there are big screens for all spectators to see in detail what’s happening on the track. If you like snow sports, you shouldn’t miss it out.

Pirena 2011, snow sledding on the beach!
Pirena is a snow sled journey in the Pyrenees that's held annually, and this year’s edition will be presented on Sunday 16 at the Barcelona's Nova Icaria beach. It promises to be a big party starting at 10 am. Sleds and dogs for one day will change the snow for the beach sand. The presentation of the "white route" will be the organization of many activities, sled exhibitions, sled dogs parades, dog training, etc. And if you want, you can even adopt a dog! Enjoy a different morning in one of the most beautiful beaches of Barcelona!
