The Three Wise Men, the Barcelona World Race, and much more for those staying at our Barcelona Hostel ;)

Even though we know that they'll be working hard the whole night and that they won't have time to sleep, at our Barcelona Hostel we’ve got a room ready for them in case they need it ;) We're so happy the Three Wise Men are coming to town! Like every January 5th, Barcelona will welcome them with the big "Cabalgata" that will take place this afternoon.

In Spain, it is a tradition that children get their Christmas presents from the Three Wise Men during the night of 5 to 6 January. Before that date, the children must write them a letter asking for the presents and gifts they’d like to have, as well as and the reasons why they deserve to receive them: their good behavior, their good qualifications ... On the night of January 5th, before they go to sleep, children leave their shoes somewhere in the house. And the next morning, when they wake up,  the gifts are there!

On occasion of the Three Wise Men arrival, a "Cabalgata" takes place through the streets of downtown. It’s a big parade  with the three wise men as guests, walking around in their big floats, from the Moll de la Fusta, through the Via Laietana, Pça. Catalunya and ending at the Font Màgica in Montjuic at 9.00 PM with a water, music and lights show.

So tonight, when you go to sleep, leave your shoes somewhere easy to see and tomorrow when you wake up ... there will be all your gifts! We’re sure the Three Wise Men will visit our Barcelona Hostel tonight!

And for tomorrow, in case you’ve have not visited the Barcelona World Race 2010 exhibition yet, we recommend you to go to Port Vell and enjoy its activities. They are all for free perfect for all backpackers staying at our Barcelona Hostel. You may experience strong wind inside a vehicle on a tunnel, an extreme sailing experience on a catamaran, or visit a sea photo exhibition.

Click here for more information on the Barcelona World Race activities and schedules.

But that's not all ... Stay at our Barcelona Hostel until next Friday! Sales starting in all stores! If you like Barcelona, walking along its streets, you like fashion and trendy storefronts, but you’re a budget traveller wanting to save your money .... Starting on Friday you'll find many stuff at cheaper prices! Don’t miss it out, stay in the city and go shopping!

And finally, if the Three Wise Men didn’t have any presents for you, you don’t want to spend your money on sales and you definitely don’t love the sea ... but you like photography and design, we recommend you an awesome contest ending on Friday. It’s really perfect for Barcelona Backpackers that love technologic gadgets. You just have to create a nice Christmas card, and you can win a Wacom Bamboo tablet. So, relax at our Barcelona Hostel common room, feel free to use any of the free-use computers there and click here to participate in the Wacom Bamboo contest … and let us know if you got the prize ;)

On sunday the Pope will cover the distance between the Cathedral and Sagrada Familia. The whole area and its surroundings will be shielded, so you'd better stay at our Barcelona Hostel until Monday if you planned to visit the Sagrada Familia or the Old Quarter and the Cathedral. Meanwhile, at our Barcelona Hostel we think that other good options for Saturday and Sunday are the Harbor, the Montjuic Mountain or the Tibidabo ... and the best way for getting around Barcelona will be the metro.
