The beaches provide one of Barcelona's most popular areas among backpackers in Barcelona. Especially in summer but during the rest of the year too, when they are full of people reading, doing some sport, out walking their dogs, listening to music or just contemplating the scene.

Every beach has its own distinctive features but they all have the same services and conveniences. There are restaurants, kiosks selling drinks and ice cream, parasol and deckchair hire, leisure and sports areas, public toilets and changing areas, clothes lockers, showers, drinking water fountains and public advice and help points.

This summer there will be a whole series of workshops, boat trips, gymkhanas, story times and guided tours on offer from May through to September. The Beach Centre will be putting on a series of free activities along the coast of Barcelona.

Barceloneta beach is the most near the Urbany Hostel, this beach is located in Barcelona's most marine neighbourhood, where there are loads of restaurants you can usually eat fish and seafood dishes at.

In Barcelona there are lots of public places with the facilities to enable you to do just that. This is just one example of the many outdoor sports you can play in the city without paying a single euro if you stay in Hostel in Barcelona.

If you're crazy about skateboarding and you don't have many places to do it without breaking any regulations or bylaws, did you know that the city has places which are especially equipped for skateboarding? You can skateboard on the beach at Barceloneta, in the Menéndez i Pelayo Gardens, in Poblenou Park and on Mar Bella beach, as well as on the Rambla Prim.

Those of you who love risk sports can do them without even leaving the city. If you like climbing, for example, remember that Barcelona is home to the largest climbing centre in Europe, at La Foixarda, on Montjuïc.
